An underlying sense of menace and instability is viscerally encapsulated by Frankie Bradshaw’s set. The ceiling of a naturalistic-style cafe is holed, broken-beam ragged; above it a wrecking ball suspended from a chain seems caught at the moment of mid-swing, between the blow that has just destroyed and the blow that is yet to come... a potent image of a community under threat. **** The Guardian
"A beautifully realised staging of August Wilson’s portrait of 1960s black America." **** The Stage
"Frankie Bradshaw's beautifully designed diner set, which evokes the period with meticulous detail" *** Whatsonstage
"You see the café's characters wrestle with the realities of their everyday life and how they choose to face its challenges - all inside Frankie Bradshaw's amazing and atmospheric set." **** Broadway World
